8. The Dare Valley Country Park was created in 1973 from reclaimed land after the coal tips were removed. The River Dare was re-routed and two lakes were created.
9. The Lord Merthyr statue at the bottom entrance of Aberdare Park, unveiled 1913.
10. This grand fountain in Aberdare Park was donated to the people of Aberdare in 1911 by Lord Merthyr to commemorate the coronation of King George V and Mary. It is one of only three fountains of its type and period in the country.
